What are sectional gutters?

Sectional gutters are sold in 10-foot sections at home improvement stores. Homeowners can buy and install them without specialized equipment. The sections connect to each other with slip joints and sealant. This creates joints approximately every 10 feet along the gutter run — and each of those joints is a potential leak point. The sealant at each joint can fail over time, particularly through Tennessee's freeze-thaw cycles, leading to leaks that damage fascia, siding, and foundations.

What are seamless gutters?

Seamless gutters are formed on-site from a continuous coil of aluminum using a roll-forming machine mounted on a truck or trailer. The gutter is made to the exact length of each run — a 40-foot section is formed as a single piece, not four connected 10-foot sections. The only joints in a seamless system are at corners and at downspout connections. Fewer joints means dramatically fewer leak points.

Seamless gutters require professional installation because the forming machine is a specialized piece of equipment. This is the reason professional gutter contractors almost universally use seamless systems — it's not a marketing claim, it's a genuine quality distinction.
